Connect with nature

Going through all my endangered species images yesterday to find one which I thought could honour the global awareness ‘endangered species day’ a day meant (as all these environmental days) to bring an awareness to the fact … we all know that nature is declining globally at rates unprecedented in human history. A deep lingering sadness is felt for our planet when I read that gut wrenchingly the rate of species extinctions is accelerating (the stats a while ago were over 200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours) - our interconnected web of life on Earth is getting smaller and smaller and yet the global human population has more than doubled in the past 50 years !!

I eventually decided on this image which I took almost 11 years ago…. The future, our children, are growing up in a mostly virtual world disconnected from and totally clueless about nature – how are we as a species going to help protect nature if we don’t know her? #taztpot #endangeredspeciesday #extinction
